Everyone is born with creativity. But those people who appear to be super creative have a secret. They know that creativity has to be developed and exercised to come easily. I am on a quest to immerse myself in creativity of all kinds. I hope you will join me!

It is getting to be that season and Divine Design is doing its first project this year on April 30.  

I found this video today on Young House Love. It made me howl because many times we have had home/room owners who go into absolute panic when we remove something for an upgraded counterpart. It can sometimes even be non functioning and we are not allowed to throw it away.

It is true that sometimes people who do not have much, or who have really struggled to acquire things, even if they are hideous, broken, and don't work right, turn into hoarders. It is understandable and we have much patience with that mindset. After all, we are there to encourage, not stress out.

Even so, this ad made me laugh and wish I could have a hat with a video screen on it, and I would play this commercial on a loop while at the project site.  I would probably get boo-ed out of the place, wouldn't I?

Never mind, I watched it twice and enjoyed it both times.

This place is fun and dangerous. It can be worse than facebook for stealing time from your day.  But, it is more productive and can inspire creativity.

Set up an account: free.  Determine which areas you have interest, and click the button.  Every time you click, it randomly takes you to a site or blog in one of your areas of interest. You can join the community and chat with like minded folks. There is so much there, it is mind boggling. It pulls from everything online. There are many creative minds out there in the world.

 I learned this quick and impressive origami tea bag holder from the nicest woman who came and sat at the Make it Take it with the Amazing Helen at CHA.  She was the epitome of a lifetime crafter, generous, giving and creative.

I was thinking about it tonight and thought I would show it to you. You can make this little gift in 2 minutes. Literally.  It could be a small yet thoughtful gift for someone who needs a pick-me-up at any time.

Or, you could do it like a parlor trick in front of your friends.  They will oooh and aaah.

 This is the one the sweet lady gave me.

 Opened up, you see there are pockets for a tea bag and a packet of sweetener.

See where she punched hole at the top to string a ribbon through? That is how she tied the holder closed.

I am not kidding when I say you can make this in two minutes.  Get a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" paper and make one with me watching the video. You don't even need a practice. You can make one on the first try.

Today I questioned how I could creatively make shoveling snow more fun.  Someone said to add glitter and paint.  How well do my friends know me? I thought more along the lines of beading my snow shovel.

Tonight, I saw this video and it is the same question. If we can make it fun, people will do it.

We need creative solutions to things that we didn't even know were problems!

Today I am celebrating the birthday of my favorite TV star ever, Richard Dean Anderson. Don't judge. If you were too young to watch him on General Hospital, then you can't possibly get it.  But, of course, you watched him as MacGyver, and maybe as Jack O'Neill if you are a sci fi fan.

What does this have to do with creativity?  Not so much, except this guy did write some funny and creative lyrics. Creativity comes in many packages.

This is my friend Queenie. The world knows her as Jo Pearson. She is the creative genius behind craft projects at Michaels. She is one of the most creative people I know. And I travel in a circle of artists, so that is really saying something. 


She uses her creativity muscle every day in her job, and that makes it easy for her to use it in her personal projects too.
